My husband and I were living on Fort Benning, in somewhat older housing. Our house was up on Arrowhead Road, a fairly quiet area. It was early one morning in 2002 me, my husband, and our 2 young children were all still in bed. My husband had the day off, if he had to work he would’ve been gone already.
I woke up to the sound of our wooden screen door creaking open, then the front door knob begin to turn. Just to make sure my husband was still in bed I touched his hand, well he grabbed hold of mine and whispered “what is going on”? We both just laid still as the door shut, chain went on, and the heavy boot steps began slowly coming down the hall. The steps came all the way to our bedroom door and just stopped. Complete silence.
My husband laid there stiff as a board for a good 5 minutes before he got up to see what was going on. The problem was that there was nothing to see. Things had been happening in the house since right after we moved in but most of the time my husband wasn’t present. I guess our “visitor” wanted to make itself known to my husband as well. From that day on my husband has not doubted any strange goings on that I tell him about.
