This happened last year on August 2000…
As usual, I was walking home from the bus stop after I finished lectures in school. Oh the way back home, I accidentally kicked some offerings… I’m not sure what the offerings are for… but was hoping not for the dead… I immediately apologised for my innocent and careless kick on the offerings… I continued my apologising even though I’ve walked a distance from the offering spot, and thought that I would be fine after that since I’ve said my “sorries”. But it wasn’t so…
Before I could get to the void deck of the place I live, I had to cross a small road. And before the small road, I had to cut across a pathway that’s connected to where a lot of small-narrow drains are… I have no idea how I should describe informatively of the other pathway to all of you to understand… except my this simple description: In between 2 narrow drains is a concrete ground with what seem like Crunch chocolate shape… and there’s grass too….
Well, I cut across the pathway and my first step arcoss the small-narrow drains pathway, I felt someone pushed me on the back and my right leg went straight into the small drain! My leg was injured, I was lucky that I was wearing thick jeans… if not I don’t know what would happen to my leg with the terrible fiction I had on the sides of the drain. I turned to look who’s the jerk or freak who pushed me into the drain. No one was there… and what’s worst is that I have lots of ITE students walking past me but never helping me out of the narrow drain!! My whole right leg was numb but still managed to pull myself out of the position I was… My hands had some cuts but were just minor ones… Just as I was about to cross the small road, I saw an Ah Mah looking at my way… Laughing at me!! I continued walking, I had to walk past her to get to the void deck of the place I live…
I walked past her and just as I was about to take another step forward, she laughed and said in Hokkien, “Serves you right! That’s the punishment you get for not giving respect to the elderly!” and she ran away!! Laughing!! It was then did I realise that the offerings I accidentally kicked were for her…
